Digital Technology
April 2003
There are some exciting things happening at Bob Knight Photo with our new digital technology this year. Bob Knight Photo will be photographing over 40% of the upcoming graduation ceremonies with our new digital cameras. These cameras are a large investment for the company and we are excited about finally being able to bring the digital technology to our graduation market.
We will still be using our film based cameras at a large number of ceremonies this year, but regardless of how the images are captured at your upcoming event - all prints and processing will handled digitally. The primary benefit in our digital workflow is that it allows us to accommodate our orders more quickly. Speed is the key and our goal this year will be to ship prints in just 48 hours after an order is received. In addition, our new custom software allows us to email our proofs to those students who provide us with their email address. If we are provided an email address, those students will receive two sets of proofs - one in the US mail and one sent via email, thus giving them the choice in the ordering process.
Another exciting element to the digital workflow is the ability to provide a CD with all of the public relations photos to the school within ten days of the ceremony. We know that many of our schools use these pictures for publications and other media, so you need to receive the CD as soon as possible. You can expect the CD to arrive before you receive the complimentary photo album after the ceremony. As always, we are happy to provide you with a photo album and any other reprints, compliments of Bob Knight Photo.
The digital workflow will also allow us to introduce new products to our customers. We anticipate items such as thank you cards and calendars to be available by next fall to our graduation customers.
This new digital workflow has truly revolutionized our graduation market. We have been testing and researching the capabilities of "going digital" for many years and we are exciting about our first true digital season. For your graduates, you can expect faster turn around times with their orders, more accurate tracking capabilities and new and exciting products for them to purchase in the near future. The digital world is here and we are excited to be a part of the new technology.
